COSTELLA BECOMES AN AMBASSADOR OF THE EUROPEAN YEAR OF CULTURAL HERITAGE 2018

Together with known Slovenian rap artist Rok Terkaj and prof. Igor Saksida Costella joins the project European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH) 2018 as an ambassador. The event’s official opening took place on Dec 3, 2017 at the National Gallery in Ljubljana.

Cultural heritage represent goods and customs, which we have inherited from the past. In the community this establishes itself as a reflection of own values, identities, religious and other beliefs, knowledge and traditions. Slovenian heritage moreover is not only important for our self-awareness, but also for the international community, which is confirmed by recent acknowledgment of the Kurent carnival costume as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

Since our beginnings as a water bottling company in 2006, heritage is also one of Costella’s integral elements. Our products are enriched by exceptional high quality of the water source, which is located in the embrace of one-of-the-kind natural ambiance. Our bottling plant is situated on the outskirts of the Krokar virgin forest remains (since 2017 a part of the UNESCO World Heritage List) and surrounded by untouched forests in the SE part of Slovenia. We are a part of the Kostel municipality, which is the 2nd most forested municipality in Europe – more than 98% of the municipality landscape is covered with forests. On the 56km2 of the rarely inhabited Natura 2000 area there are no agricultural nor industrial activities.

At Costella we are aware of the social and environmental responsibility we have. One of the most important foundations of company’s vision of further development lies in co-designing the identity and helping to preserve the heritage of Slovenia and Slovenians. Therefore we decided to produce and distribute an exclusive line of our bottled natural mineral water, where 1 cent of every sold bottle will go in the fund for renovation of Slovenia’s cultural heritage.
